World Cup Brazil: Opportunity for Startups

Brazil is going to host 2014 FIFA World Cup and everyone's eyes are on Brazil. The bookies favorite team is Brazil and even this year my favorite team is Brazil. I have noticed that most of the world class events are happening in developing nations which are actively participating and winning hearts by miles. I came across Brazil mainly for football, carnivals and the statue of Christ the Redeemer. Now its a time to change the mind set. Brazil has been identified as great potential for Startups.

Creating opportunities for Startups is always a great deal in Brazil.  Technological revolution is not easy because every day the market is more demanding on so many aspects before entrepreneurs who seek to satisfy the needs of their target audience, ideas that can revolutionize time of transition.

As per my various discussions with the people in Brazil through social networking, corruption is rampant in Brazil and many firms identify this issue as a major constraint in successfully penetrating the global market.  World Cup is going to start from 12 June 2014 and people in Brazil are protesting because of corruption and insecurity among people.

People have suggested me 10 potential cities to do business in Brazil, named as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Brasília, Fortaleza, Belo Horizonte, Manaus, Curitiba, Recife, Porto Alegre. I found few great areas to do business in Brazil.

E-Commerce – Brazil is the 5th largest internet market globally, 40% of Brazil’s total population is regularly connected to the internet.

Mobile Application – Brazilian Chamber of E-Commerce predicts that Brazil’s m-commerce market will reach around $960 million in 2013, so I guess m-commerce or app market have a great potential.

Education –Not many Brazilians speak English, particularly outside Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo. The minority who speaks English are the ones who can afford a private course in an English School.

Real Estate – Hospitality and Tourism in Brazil have been always an evergreen option, So in my opinion, investment in real estate has to be a better option in Brazil.

HR Consulting – Around 65% of the labor force works in services. Growth rates for the IT services industry indicate that more than 7,00,000 additional professionals will be needed in the country in the next 10 years and out of that 40 per cent for the export market.

Apart form these,  there are many options for Startups to explore in Brazil. Kyle Chandler say Opportunity does not knock, it presents itself when you beat down the door.

Thank you for your patience and leave your message in the comment box. Last question to all my blog reader, Who will win the FIFA World Cup 2014?
